Merry Christmas Slate Decor #texturedsurface | Simply Designing with Ashley

I still have just a few more Christmas gifts to make this year and then I will undertake the task of delivering them all! But today I wanted to share a really cute idea with you for a simple, quick and inexpensive holiday gift: Merry Christmas Slate Decor

To complete this craft you will need:

FrogTape Textured Surface
12" x 12" Slate Tile (about $1 - $1.50 from a hardware store)
Paint, cream and red (either spray paint or craft paint will work)
Foam Brush
Vinyl (optional)*

After you've collected your supplies, you will want to begin by cleaning your slate tile. Mine was crazy dirty 🙁 After it is clean, you can paint the entire tile. I spray painted mine Heirloom White, it's my favorite off-white colors ever!

After the paint was completely dry, I applied my FrogTape® around the tile to create a border. I then wiped the tape with a damp cloth, applied the liquid PaintBlock and waited 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, you can paint your border. I used a red acrylic craft paint with a foam brush to paint my border. You will need to let it dry (I needed two coats) and then take the tape off of the tile. I was impressed with how clean my border was, especially being on such a textured tile!

I completed my project by cutting a holiday design out of vinyl and applying it to the front of the tile inside of the painted border. However, if you don't have vinyl, you can used your FrogTape® to create another festive design or sketch out and paint a design of your choosing! The options are truly endless!

I love how my Merry Christmas Slate Tile Board has such a fun textured background, yet my painted border is so clean and pretty thanks to FrogTape® Textured Surface tape! I think it looks really pretty in my home...but I also might make a few of these to give away as holiday gifts this year!
