Alright. I have to be honest with you.
I enjoy baking. I really do. (If you couldn't tell!)
But there are a couple of things that I can't seem to get right. One of which is banana bread. (I have a guilt complex throwing away the bananas so I feel the need to make something with them like banana bread. But it never turns out right. Never. And we end up throwing that away...anyway. Long story short, I have been banned from making it.)
The other thing I have not been able to do successfully is chocolate chip cookies.
I know, ridiculous, right? Who can't make chocolate chip cookies?!?! Me. I can't.
Mine always end up sooooo flat that the chocolate chips look like huge mountains sticking up out of the rest of the cookie. It's not a pretty sight.
And it is so sad because chocolate chip cookies are my husband's favorite type of cookie.
Well, when my sister came to visit me after I had my son, (she lives out of the country so I don't see her too often) she taught me how to make chocolate chip cookies. Hurray!
When they were done, my husband walks over and says, "Wow!! These actually...I mean...these look great hun." Ha ha ha!
They did taste quite good too!
They are more of a chewy cookie rather then a cake-y cookie if that makes an sense. Anyway, just the way we like them! Yum!
So watch out world! I am armed with chocolate chip cookie making power!
Here is the recipe I used with great success, twice! Enjoy!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Cream together until fluffy: (Really, turn the mixer on high and mix for several minutes until it looks light and fluffy!)
- ¾ c butter flavored crisco
- ¾ c sugar
- ¾ c brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
Add and mix:
- 2 ¼ c flour (for thicker cookies add up to ½ c more)
- ½ c quick oats (can use up to 1 c for an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
Stir in:
- 12 oz chocolate chips (ok...I put a few extra in this batch...super chocolatey...yummy!!)
Drop on an ungreased cookie sheet. (Ungreased is important here! If you use pam on your pan it can make your cookies flatten out. One of the many mistakes I was making apparently!)
Bake at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes.
Enjoy!

Yay! I'm so excited you posted this. I have the same problem, they are my hubbies favorite but I can't seem to make them right! Mind turn out horrible every time I try, so I haven't in a really long time. Maybe I'll give it another shot though with your recipe! Hope mine turn out as good as yours. AND if you want to try banana bread again sometime, I have a great recipe that

Sounds yummy...to "kick them up a notch", right after removing them from the oven, sprinkle chocolate chips on top of them. Wait a few minutes, and then spread the by-now melted chips. Quickly place pieces of your favorite candy/candy bars on top. Let cool and then enjoy, that is, if you can wait that long! In our house, we add chopped up kit-kat bars, m & m's, milk duds, and

My family love choc chip cookies as well. I have only just started to bake in the last 12 months. Now I go online with whatever ingredient I have in the cupboard and see what I can make. One time I had heaps of coconut and I found a really quick and easy coconut cookie that is to die for. Good luck with the banana bread.

These sound yummy. I actually made cookies the other day and they were flat. I know sometimes it happens from butter melted too much instead of just softened or too much mixing. I am going to have to try this recipe though. Sounds good. Thanks for sharing!!
