Today's post is the first in a series that will be appearing twice a week here at Simply Designing! Silver and Gold in the Home....who doesn't LOVE Silver and Gold for the holidays, right!?
I'm proud to host some wonderful bloggers over the next month for this series! First up, I'm happy to have Carolina over from 30 Minute Crafts!
Hi there! I'm Carolina from 30 Minute Crafts. I love to craft, but with two young boys I don't have much time to craft... so I keep my projects quick and simple! Today I'm sharing with you a super easy garland you can make in 30 minutes or less, and with just a few simple supplies. To make this you need: Vase filler (I got this at Michael's, but you can use small ornaments instead) Baker's twine (or any twine, string or yarn... this is a pretty versatile craft) Pipe cleaner (our "secret ingredient!)
When I saw this twisty metal vase filler, I knew it was going to turn into a project. It is pretty enough that I could just add a hook and hang it on the tree as an ornament... but I'm on a serious garland kick right now, so I decided to string it up into a garland. Start by folding your pipe cleaner in half. You only need one. Thread it through a hole on either side of one vase filler ball, like the pipe cleaner is a needle, and you're threading a bead.
Insert your baker's twine into the hole in the folded pipe cleaner (like threading a needle).
Pull the pipe cleaner out, pulling the baker's twine through the middle of the vase filler. String the ball down the baker's twine, how far depends on how long you want your finished garland. Then tie a knot to hold it in place.
Repeat these steps, threading on the silver balls, and tying in place. I like to tie mine about a hand-width apart. When you're done, hang your garland and enjoy!
Thanks so much for letting me hang out here and share this simple project with you! If you want more fast and easy holiday ideas, check out my Simple Wooden Santa, Mason Jar Neighbor Gift, and Vintage Block Ornaments. I have tons of inspiration and tutorials over at 30 Minute Crafts!
