Modern Color Block Coasters {Silver and Gold Series}

Hi there Simply Designers! We are twin sisters Kelli and Kristi of Lolly Jane, our eclectic craft/DIY blog, and are excited to take part in this cool Silver and Gold series. We are sharing a modern project, something a bit out of the norm to us, as we typically lean towards a shabby farmhouse distressed style. Since color block is all the rage right now, though, we thought we'd try our hand at it with our painted modern color block coasters:

While Christmas shopping at Joann, I spied a pack of 4x4" cork coasters for only $1.99 and knew I needed to spruce these up!

Using Martha Stewart's silver and brass liquid gilding + painters tape, we turned these standard cork pieces to modern coasters in no time at all!

1. Tape off designs. (Stripes, Herringbone, Polka Dots and Side stripe.)
2. Brush on gilding.
3. Embellish with bright acrylic paints in modern colors.

Viola! Modern colorblock coasters that took almost no time at all!

You can add as much color or guilding as your style desires! 🙂
