Fall is here and so today we are talking about how to boost your immune system with elderberry popsicles. I love using Essential Oils (here) for boosting my immune system all fall and winter long, but elderberries are another amazing way to support your immune system. They are natural and can often be found in syrup form which is a great base for elderberry popsicles! I am making these and keeping them in my freezer for when our body's need a little extra support fighting off fall and winter yuckiness. Keep reading for the full recipe.
How to Boost Your Immune System with Elderberry Popsicles
Elderberries have been used for supporting your immune system for a very long time. According to WebMD, "Some people take elderberry by mouth for the common cold, "the flu" (influenza), and H1N1 "swine" flu." It also says that "Elderberry seems to have activity against viruses including the flu, and might reduce inflammation."
So as far as natural remedies go, elderberry is a pretty amazing option.
You can order dried elderberries from online like these here, and simmer them in water and make your own syrup. Or you can buy premade elderberry syrup like this one here. Either one will work.
Why Elderberry Popsicles?
Popsicles are great for soothing sore throats or helping to calm down coughs. And so any time you can make your own, with healthy ingredients, you are getting better, healing foods into your body. With the immune boosting properties of elderberry in these popsicles, it makes for an amazing combination if you need a little immune system support too!
These elderberry popsicles contain elderberry syrup which has amazing benefits to helping your body kick yuckiness to the curb, orange juice which is packed with vitamin C, grape juice which has been shown to help ward off sickness, raw honey for natural sweetness (but did you know that honey is as good as soothing a cough as over the counter cough syrup is?!), ginger root which is awesome to help with sore throats and lemon juice which is great for helping your body to detox!
Seriously, I don't think any other goodness could be jam-packed into these popsicles! These are so so good for you!
Plus they taste good and are kid-friendly so your kids will not only be ok eating them, they will BEG for them!
