We took our children opening weekend to see the new Cinderella movie and just loved it! It was beautifully done, the costumes were amazing, the cinematography was stunning, it was all just beautiful. But even more beautiful then the movie itself was the wonderful story and the amazing lessons we learned. Yes, there was a great lesson to be learned from this movie and it deeply touched my whole family. We all walked out of the theater commenting on what a great movie this was!

Not so much of a spoiler alert, if you have ever seen or read any Cinderella story, you know that Cinderella loses her mother. In this movie, before her mom dies, she gives her daughter, Ella the wise advice to always have courage and be kind.
It was sweet and touching and such wise advice. I thought a lot about this, that this was the dying mother's wish; to remind her daughter to have courage and to be kind. So it got me thinking about what legacy I want to leave my children. I hope I am a part of their lives for a very long time of course but if there was one thing I would want my children to learn from me, one thing to carry them through their entire life, what would it be?
And the more I thought about this, the more I realized just how perfectly wise, this advice from a movie was! Have courage and be kind.
As soon as the movie was over, I emailed my sweet friend Courtney from Paperelli and begged her to please design a printable for me with this quote! And she willingly obliged! Isn't she the best!? I plan to hang this beautiful quote by my back door to remind my children to have courage and be kind.

What better advice could I leave my children then that!? There is so much I want for them. So many hopes and dreams and desires for them to learn and grow and fulfill their potential. But I don't believe they will be able to do that, unless then have courage and are kind.
Courage to stand up in a world that is often hard, confusing and challenging. Courage to grow into the people they truly are and can be. Courage to stand up for the truth and the right. Courage to be honest, courage to reach for their dreams and courage through all their hard trials. We all need to have courage every single day.
And nothing in this world replaces true, genuine kindness. I have been the recipient of many kind words and actions thought out my life and this kindness has helped to shape me into the person that I am today. Kindness is what pulls people together. Kindness can triumph everything else. Kindness above all else, will help you succeed in every area of your life. It is sometimes hard to be kind, but it is always the right way to act. This is something I feel very strongly about and try my best to be kind (although I admit I am not perfect at it.) And it is something I am working very hard to teach my children.
So really, what else could I hope for for my children!? Have courage and be kind.
We have chosen to integrate this quote into our family's life. It will be hanging by our back door very soon so that my children will see this cute printable and wonderful reminder on their way out the door every morning. And every time I leave the house I will also be reminded to have courage and be kind.
I hope that I can instill in them the values of courage and kindness, and about a million other things too of course, like faith, generosity, patience, charity, self-worth, the list is oh-so long! But this is what we will be focusing on in our family right now; courage and kindness!
What values are you working to teach your children about?

Love the printables! I have four girls, so it is important to be encouraging them and equipping them as they go out into the world. I also like the printable on a clipboard so you can easily change them out.

I love these printables! That quote is a perfect reminder of how to live our lives. Simple words, big truths. We have not seen the movie yet, but I'm anxious to do so. I'd be thrilled if you shared this at my Creative Ways Link Party that's live right now. Hope to see you there! Happy Easter!
