Grey and Turquoise Side Table

Hi everyone! It's Shanna from Restoration Redoux here for my monthly post!

Can you believe it's already September?  Although with the temperature still being in the hundreds, it's hard to tell.

My daughter is 15, and over the summer I hired her to help me with my furniture projects.   It worked out perfectly -- she needed a job to save for a car, and I needed cheap labor.  Surprisingly we didn't even kill each other.   I think she knew there weren't many other jobs you can get when your 15.  She does a little babysitting but has found out that is hard-earned money.

So with school starting, it was either homeschool her (which wouldn't work out since she surpassed my math skills around the third grade) or lose my only employee.  So off to work I go ... alone {sigh}.

One of my most recent projects has been this little end table I picked-up at a yard sale for $5.  It was part of a set, but I had already sold one of them to a client.

I loved the great lines, but it had a dated, orangy color to it (and not much personality), so I got to work.

I started by cleaning all of the filth off.

Once it was cleaned-off, I painted the whole table with two coats of grey paint.  I then went back and painted the inner top panel turquoise -- I knew that wasn't enough, so painted some accent areas along the sides and the legs with the same color turquoise.

I was then going to distress it, but decided I liked it just the way it was.  Finally, I coated it in a Annie Sloan's Clear Wax and buffed it smooth.

I am really happy with the way it turned out!
