The last year has been crazy! As my kids get older and become involved in more things, the struggle to spend time just relaxing together becomes increasingly difficult. I keep hoping things will settle down. While it is still warm outside, we are taking advantage of every opportunity to be outside that we can! We took a spontaneous trip to Lake Michigan last Saturday in fact! We are squeezing in every last pool day, park day and bike ride we can. Even though I LOVE hot chocolate, I am not quite ready to give up summer and the yummy refreshing drinks I love during the warm days. As a last hurrah I am sharing an absolutely delectable Frosted Lemonade drink recipe that is perfect for spring, summer or all year long! If you love lemons and lemonade and creamy delicious drinks, you will love this frosted lemonade!
A few months ago, we grabbed a quick drink at a fast food restaurant and they had a new frozen lemonade type of drink. It was amazing and delicious and I knew wanted to go home and try to recreate this myself! However, it was not quite tart enough for me, so I wanted to make a better, stronger, more tart version.
It took me a little while to actually get this post up, but believe me we have been enjoying this all summer long! It is so tasty and delicious and I plan to drink it as far into the fall as I can!
When I went to the store to grab the ingredients I would need I found a new Country Time Starters concentrate in liquid form that I hadn't seen before. I like that it was made with real fruit juice so it is nice and tart and not too sweet. And because it was concentrated, you would just add water to drink it as lemonade, but for this recipe it made a perfectly tart and tangy base ingredient!
This frosted lemonade is cool and refreshing and the perfect amount of tart and sweet.
Frosted Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ Tablespoons Country Time Lemonade Starter, lemonade concentrate or other mix of your choice
- 5 small scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream
- ¼ cup water
- Whipped Cream (optional but delicious)
Simply mix the lemonade starter, ice cream and water in a blended until smooth. You don't want to over process this as it will begin to melt quickly. It should be thick like a really thick frostie or milkshake, barely thin enough to drink with a straw!
Pour it into a cup and top it with whipped cream if desired.
Depending on how strong you want your drink to be, you can use anywhere between 1-2 tablespoons of your starter mix. I found 1 ½ tablespoons was perfect for us! But you may need to tweak it a little bit depending on how big your ice cream scoops are and how strong you like it.
And if this is too thick, add a little more water until your desired consistency is achieved.

Your recipe sounds like the Chik Filet (sorry about the spelling) lemonade!! It cost $2.00 just for the lemons for one glass last year.
