Dandruff commercials frequently show embarrassing problems brought on by dry scalp. Flaky skin on the body can be equally embarrassing. While there are treatments that can help, not everyone can afford an expensive, time-consuming spa solution. Fortunately, there are all natural do-it-yourself remedies that can be conveniently done at home for far less than the cost of a spa treatment. Although the days before Valentine's Day are a perfect time to treat and refresh our selves, we should all allow ourselves to feel fresh and beautiful regardless what day it is!
Ingredients
½ cup of brown sugar
½ cup raw sugar
½ cup of sweet almond oil, olive oil, or any carrier oil
optional: 6 drops of vanilla essential oil
Directions: Thoroughly mix all ingredients together. If the mixture will not be used immediately, store it in a Mason jar or other airtight container.
How to Use: Take a hot shower to open pores and wash away all skincare products. Spread the scrub all over your body, massaging onto your skin in a circular motion to remove dead skin. Rinse the mixture off the body and unveil smooth, fresh, new skin!
The brown sugar and sugar exfoliates and helps to remove the layer of dry skin, revealing fresh, smooth skin while the oil softens and hydrates. The vanilla essential oil adds a delicious scent to the skin.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon of honey
½ of an avocado
1 egg white
Directions: This mask should be made when you are prepared to immediately use the mixture in its entirety. Blend ingredients together until consistency is smooth.
***Optional: Applying a damp, carefully microwaved washcloth over your face before applying the mask for about three minutes will open your pores.
How to Use: Wash your face to remove all makeup and other facial products. Apply the mixture to your entire face, avoiding your mouth and eyes. The mixture may be clumpy in texture. Allow the mask to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing off.
The avocado is great for skin and is packed with Vitamin K, which is an effective treatment for red or dark spots on the face. Honey is an excellent moisturizer and is an antibiotic that both heals and cleanses skin. Egg white functions as a binding agent to hold the mixture together.
