Tday is less then a week away! Eek! Is your table ready for Thanksgiving? Mine sure wasn't a couple of days ago. But thanks to Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts Stores and a little bit of elbow grease, I am whipping my table into Turkey-Worthy-Ready-Status!
A really simple way to update your table for the fall, autumn or even specifically for Thanksgiving is to add a table runner to it!
My table is a little on the narrow side, so a long runner doesn't work that well on my table. Instead I chose to lay a runner short-wise on my table and I love how it looks!
To create this table runner, you will need:
- approximately 9" width of burlap (I found this amazing autumn themed-burlap at Joann!) (but make sure you get enough to fit your table properly)
- approximately 12" width of brown knit
- sewing machine (or you can sew by hand)
- brown thread
First you will cut your knit fabric. Mine ended up being between 2"-3" wide strips. Then you will sew the knit to the burlap, starting along the bottom and tucking as you go to get a small ruffle. I added three rows of knit ruffles to my runner!
Repeat on the other end and enjoy!
Now please note, I am not expert sewer. I realize I probably should have pinned and then sewed...but I am a bit of a lazy sewer and it honestly looks great!
I have one more craft that I am working on and will show you later today as part of my Thanksgiving Tablescape. But for now, you can check out the Jo-Ann craft catalog for more inspiration HERE.
