I have mentioned before our love of our deck and spending time out there as a family! We have lived in our home about 4.5 years and about a year after moving into the home, we built a deck and a pergola. It was one of our best investments ever! We have truly loved having an outdoor space! But last year when we built a game table, we found we loved our deck even more! Most nice evenings we spend out on our deck as a family, playing a game of checkers and enjoying each other's company. We are hoping to be able to add on to our deck soon too! Play a Game
As I have mentioned before, my family LOVES playing games together! And my kids are really really good at it too! Please believe me when I say that I play as hard as I can, and my 8 year old daughter regularly beats me at most games! She is really good. And my 5 year old son is nearly that good too! Adding an outdoor checker table onto our deck last year was one of the best things we have done! Games like checkers promote learning, problem solving skills and family time! Plus is it just fun! Eat Together
Family dinner is something we strive to do every single day. However when family dinner is taken outside, the kids seem to love it even more! Something is magical about eating outside to our children. And it's also magical to me because there is always less clean-up when we eat outside too! (check out our outdoor table details here)
Go for a Nature Walk
At least once a week we go for a family walk! This is a great time to put down technology, set aside distractions and just enjoy time together. It is a good time to talk and learn more about your family and it is fun to explore the world around you! We love finding new trails to walk and explore near us. It's amazing the critters we have seen by simply taking the time to look. Sometimes I even bring my camera along and grab some really fun photos too! Explore the Outdoors with Wheels
We love to take walks, but it is so exhilarating to explore the world around us on wheels! My husband and daughter love to long board. My son loves his bike and scooter. And I prefer a bike. Whatever kind of wheels you prefer, make it a family affair and enjoy seeing the world around you!
Work Together
We love to work together as a family and we have spent many hours working outdoors together. If you don't already have a deck, get the family involved and build one!
