I had seen (somewhere) an idea to take breadstick dough and shape them into shamrocks. I think the original idea involved sprinkling cinnamon and sugar (tinted green on them to make them even more festive on top. Cute idea huh?
Well, since I did not do the grocery shopping the week the breadsticks were bought, I ended up with garlic breadsticks. Still a yummy choice, but not so yummy with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top.
So in my version, after I was done shaping the breadsticks into shamrocks, I added green food coloring to salt, mixed it up, and sprinkled the salt on top of my garlic breadsticks. Yum!
Anyway, this idea is SIMPLE and EASY (especially since I used breadstick dough from a can / container)!
And it can be made into savory breadsticks (with salt on top) or sweet breadsticks (with just sugar or cinnamon and sugar mixed on top)!
Enjoy!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
