I am SOOOO excited about today's post!
After a lot of consideration, I have decided to add a very few, select, featured contributors to my blog.
Featured Contributors are very near and dear to my heart. These are people who I have asked to be a big part of Simply Designing. They will post here once a month. So once a month you will get a break from me, and get to see their fabulous creations!

Since I am being very selective about who becomes a featured contributor, my first (and only at the moment) one is Rebekah from Potholes & Pantyhose. Please go here to see her full bio. But here is a short introduction if you haven't met her yet (and if you haven't met her yet, boy you are missing out on one fab gal!)
Hello Simply Designing readers-I’m Rebekah from Potholes & Pantyhose and I am excited to be a guest blogger today! I blog about my adventures as I tour with my musician hubby, my home life-which usually involves some type of remodeling project, my photography, and the 'arts and crap' that I happen to make. I try to maintain a somewhat normal life. However, normalcy keeps escaping me.
Today, I have an easy project that can be done in a matter of minutes, but offer impressive results. And, if you like what you see, I will be giving away the 'Sew Vintage Cards' that I am making in this tutorial. (*See below for more details.)
Life just can't get any better, can it?
I have a peculiar Grandmother that sends me random pictures of people I don't know, postcards from places she's never been, coupons for stores we don't have in Oklahoma and church bulletins with illegible scrawl in the sidelines.
I am sure you might have the same weird relative, or perhaps YOU are that weird relative. Save the weirdness you encounter and put it to good use.
Here's what you'll need to make your very own 'Sew Vintage Cards':
Old, weird photos or postcards (I can get you on Grandma's mailing list, if you like)
Vibrant thread
Scissors
8.5 x 11 Card Stock
Sewing Machine and a 'Jean Needle' (100/16)
Envelopes
Pen & Ruler
Fold your card stock in half and draw a line down the middle using your pen and ruler.
Cut your card stock in half.
Dust off your sewing machine, slap in your heavy duty 'Jean Needle' and choose a decorative stitch.
I always test the look of several different types of stitches on a piece of cardboard, just to see what I am getting myself into. Once you've decided on a pattern you like, temporarily tape your photo/postcard to the card stock with scotch tape.
Tack down two opposing sides of the photo/postcard with your preferred stitching method to prevent it from sliding around.
Sew around the entire perimeter of the photo/postcard, changing up the decorative stitch if you feel so inclined.
Change to a straight stitch and slowly stitch whatever crazy phrase comes to mind that compliments the picture. Don't get picky, get kitschy.
You can also sew the flap of your envelope with the same decorative stitch, or something new.
Here are my two final cards. Sew Vintage and Sew Easy!
For the GIVEAWAY (didn't I mention this week was going to be FULL of giveaways?!?): Stop by Potholes & Pantyhose and leave a comment on any one of her pages with the first line, 'Pick Me!', along with your email address.
She will pick one lucky commenter and these sweet little cards are yours!
