Decorating Ideas Beyond New Years
With the holidays past and the new year in full swing, your home may seem a bit dull or empty after the festive decorations have been tucked back in boxes and relegated to the attic. So what do you do to brighten up your home between now and spring and bring a little excitement back to your surroundings? Here are some interior design ideas to get you started.
Redo Furniture Plan
You may have moved your furniture about a bit if you had a tree and decorations up, so why not take it a step further and rethink your furniture plan. Measure your pieces, then your space to make sure they’ll fit before moving anything about—then go for it. You could have a brand new living room, bedroom or any one of your other rooms before you know it.
Borrow and Repurpose
Walk around your home and visualize furniture and home décor items such as rugs, pottery and wall art in another room or setting. Would the rug in the foyer give the living room a new feel and vice versa? Maybe, you have a favorite painting in the living room, you might use as a focal point above the bed. Repurpose by taking say a wooden chest from the foot of the bed and use it as a coffee table in the living room. Get creative and have fun, these living room design ideas are some of the easiest ways to give your place a whole new look and feel without spending a dime.
Illuminate
With the lights of the holidays no longer glowing your home may seem a bit lifeless. Bring it back to life by illuminating with new lamps in unexpected places such as lighting a dark corner of the foyer with a beautiful floor lamp or bring in branches from outdoors, put in a wooden box or glass vase and decorate with pin lights. Light can give your home a fresh perspective in a matter of minutes.
