You know the song, right? Grandma got run over by a reindeer....it's a Christmas classic.
My husband has been singing a slightly different version of it around my house today...it goes a little something like this:
So I had these cute PB Noel stocking holders. We've had them for ages. My mom actually gave them to us. (Sorry mom for the sad story that is about to follow 🙁
Cute huh? Anyway, received them before we had kids, so they have been around our house for a long time.
I loved them. But I don't decorate with a lot of gold, so this year I decided I was finally going to spray paint them. Spray paint has come a long way in the last 7 years so I decided it was time. Plus, they were starting to tarnish anyway.
So we picked out a pretty hammered brown metal spray paint and with the unseasonably warm weather, I was able to get a few coats on them! They were looking soooo cute!
This morning I had a meeting. When I returned home, I pulled into my driveway, opened my garage door and started to drive into my garage when I heard a loud crunching noise followed by the sound of metal hitting the wall.
Hm. That isn't good. (Have a mentioned I have had TWO flat tires within the last 30 days! One was fixable and the other was not...$250 later...and I had clearly just run over something!!)
So I backed up and I couldn't see a thing.
I backed up a bit more and still couldn't see anything. So I got out of my car and then I saw it...
My Noel stocking holders were shattered. Completely unfixable. (Thankfully the tire is ok!)
While I was gone this morning my husband decided to help me out be putting a coat of paint on them for me. So he had carefully laid them down on the garage floor, right where I pull my car in and thought I would be able to see them when I pulled up.
My dear husband was not mad at all. He just said he felt a song coming and started singing "Noel got run over by a reindeer...I mean Highlander..."
He didn't completely believe me when I told him I couldn't see them when I was pulling in! We have a Highlander, it is a tall car with a long nose, I pulled all the way down my driveway and still couldn't see them sitting there on the garage floor. I finally made him sit in the drivers seat and he said "Oh. Yeah. You can't see them can you." No. No you can't.
So I am sad and a bit mad at myself. But my husband just keeps on singing...
I have a feeling this song will be a new Christmas classic around out house for years and years and years and years to come.

LOL- That is sooo funny! Now I have a question for you. How do you like your Highlander? We have had a Sequoia for a long time but we are car hunting and thought we might downsize a bit. I love the way the Highlander looks inside and out. Is it comfortable for long trips? xo Diana
