Shabby Fabric Christmas Tree {Pottery Barn Knock-Off}

On many occasions I have lauded the style of +Pottery Barn. It just calls to me. Not all the time, but sometimes, I can literally hear it calling my name from the pages of the pretty catalog when it appears every month. (ha...maybe that's just the holiday craziness talking...) Anyway...

Today's knock-off Christmas or Winter Decor piece is inspired from the most recent pages of the PB holiday catalog. Interestingly enough, they don't sell these (at least not that I could tell), but they were part of the background decor. But I loved these Simple Shabby Fabric Christmas Trees, loved their style and knew I wanted to make one for my own home this year!

Pottery Barn Knock-Off Fabric Trees

You Will Need:

Styrofoam Cone
+/- ⅓ yard Cotton Duck Cloth (I found a flecked, cream duck cloth for this project. It resembles the fabric found in the catalog.)
Low Temp Hot Glue Gun
Fabric Scissors
Wood Candle Stick (optional)
White Craft Paint (optional)
E-6000 Glue (optional)

Directions:

Use a small square scrap of fabric to cover the top of the cone using your hot glue gun
Cut remaining fabric into strips about 4" wide
Use your fingers to crease the top edge down about ¾"-1" on the fabric strips
Starting above the cone, wrap your fabric around the cone using hot glue to adhere the bottom of your fabric to the cone. Yes, this will mean the top of your fabric will bow out a little, this is ok and helps to create Pottery Barn's not-so-perfect look 🙂
Continue wrapping fabric around come until entire cone is covered
Secure the end of the fabric on the bottom of the cone
If desired, use E6000 glue to adhere a painted candlestick to the bottom of the cone. (PB's tree's do not have the candlestick, but I wanted to pair mine with a couple of other Christmas Trees and it just looked best this way for my purposes.)
