Creating my Flower Tower has certainly been a fun project! I have enjoyed every step along the way from shopping at +The Home Depot for all my supplies (who wouldn't love that!?) to building my Flower Tower frame and base. I even enjoyed tackling the daunting task of planting 115 flowers in my Flower Tower! I'm not going to lie though, having cute girly work gloves helped make that process a little more enjoyable! (I am not a fan of dirt under my nails.)
Thank you so much for joining me on my Flower Tower journey! In case you missed any of it:

After one week of growth, my Flower Tower is looking healthy, strong and my pansies are growing and thriving! I know after another week or two, my Flower Tower will be even more stunning and beautiful! I can't wait to watch it grow through the spring!
We absolutely LOVE our Flower Tower. It looks amazing on our front porch and we continue to get compliments on it all the time!
One of the things I loved about this project was that it pushed me to do something I rarely do; plant. I am not shy about admitting that my husband takes care of all the yard work around our home. He enjoys it and he is really good at it. I haven't planted anything in years. Seriously.
But since this was MY project, I was determined to plant all 115 flowers into my Flower Tower and I. DID. IT! I got over my worries and as soon as I started, I realized how EASY it truly is!!
I just simply love how my Flower Tower turned out and I can't wait to watch it continue to grow through the season!
Now that I've completed my stunning Flower Tower, let's talk about a few other projects we are considering tackling this year!
We have dreamed for almost three years of having a garden in our backyard. Well, technically on our side yard. The side of our yard needs to be landscaped still and we have been putting it off because we wanted to include a couple of small raised garden beds in our landscaping plan over there and we hadn't nailed down the exact layout of it yet.
After having built this Flower Tower we are finally ready and inspired to tackle this project this year!
I'm not even afraid to plant some of the plants myself anymore!
So my husband and I collaborated on a plan for the entire side yard against our home. We will be adding a mow strip, four small raised garden beds, hopefully a bench, a few more bushes and plants, mulch, stepping stones and a small arbor at the entrance! My husband sketched out our vision for it.
And we have already begun the process! We added a mow strip the other day and had to play with it to get it to be a nice shape and the right dimensions, but we love the curved shape! Next step is to start building, then planting! What a fun project for this spring!
We will not only finish landscaping our side yard but we will also finally be able to have a small garden that we have wanted for several years.
We are SUPER EXCITED! And so are the kids (they beg for a garden too)!
We have many other dreams for our yard too! We would love to build a patio with a fire pit in it (see here for more details.)
And we need to seal and possibly stain our deck this year. But budget will probably not allow for us to do more then the deck and side yard / garden this year. Thankfully we plan to spend many more years in our home so our other outdoor projects will have to wait until another year. But we are THRILLED to be able to begin work on our garden this year!
I'd like to give a big huge THANK YOU to The Home Depot for making this Flower Tower post series possible! I have always loved shopping at The Home Depot and will continue to do so as their selection and pricing is great! Plus they always have fabulous customer service! Thank you The Home Depot!

I love the flower tower! I definitely have to try that one! Also, re: your deck, we just did our deck with a product from Home Depot called Deck Restore.. it is AWESOME and has held up to dog claws and snow shovels. It is a bit of a pain to work with but if you read the reviews on Amazon and just follow the directions it will turn out great! And the best thing is you won't have to stain/

does it really take 115 plants to make it look that full? I would have thought about 30...maybe I misread what I thought I saw. Either way, looks gorgeous and going to give it a try this weekend.

Hi Alison!

Hahahaha! I really planted 115 plants! BUT, my tower is 4 feet tall!! So it is pretty huge :)

Each flower container I bought came with 6 plants so I used about 20 containers. Does that make sense?

Good luck creating your own!

Ashley

What other plants can you use besides Petunias and Pansy's that will spreade out? I live in Houston and it is very hot in the summer and Petunias and Pansy's will not last.

Thanks Jody

Jody,
I would talk to your local nursery. I am really not familiar with plants that grow well in Houston 🙂 But I know your local Home Depot would be able to help steer you in the right direction :)

Good luck!
