Our house is almost decorated for the Holidays but that doesn't mean we are done creating and crafting around our house yet! My children especially love to get busy creating and crafting over the holidays and so I've come up with a really fun kid craft to share with you today! Christmas Tree Wall Art!
To complete this craft you will need:
- art canvas
- FrogTape Textured Surface
- paint (green, yellow, brown)
- foam brush
- paper plate
- star punch (optional)
First you will tape off your art canvases using FrogTape® Textured Surface tape. I taped my two diagonal lines (for the sides of the tree) first. Then added the the horizontal stripes. Because I was letting my children paint it, I decided to cover the rest of the canvas with tape as well. My 7 year old is very careful but my 3 year old isn't quite as accurate while painting, so I thought this would be a good preventative measure for him!
FrogTape® Textured Surface comes with a built in PaintBlock, so after my tape was adhered, I wiped the edges with a damp cloth to activate the PaintBlock. Then I followed the instructions to apply the Liquid PaintBlock that came with my Textured Surface tape. You simply apply it to the edges and wait 15 minutes before painting. (Please note that only adults should use the liquid PaintBlock, I did this portion of the project and it should only be done by an adult.)
And then I let my kids go to town painting the tree! (You can see a short video of my son painting on Instagram, it's way too cute!)
While my kiddos were painting, I started prepping the next phase by cutting a star out of FrogTape® with a star punch. You can always freehand a star if you don't have a punch.
After the green tree portion of the tree is painted, you will want to wait until your paint completely dries. After it dries, remove the tape! You will notice how amazingly clean your edges are...even on a textured canvas surface!! Holy moley was I impressed!
FrogTape® Textured Surface is painters tape specifically formulated to work on textured surfaces! From art canvases to textured walls, this will help you create clean straight lines without seepage. And I was so very impressed with how well it worked!
Then add your tape for the star and the tree trunk, wipe with a damp cloth, apply the liquid PaintBlock, wait 15 minutes and paint your star and tree trunk.
I love how these Christmas Trees turned out! It is a great Holiday Craft to get your kids involved in and they honestly look nice enough to hang up in my house too! We are loving how these turned out!
I'll be sharing this idea on Pinterest and you can share your Textured Paint tape ideas as well! Just remember to use hashtag #TexturedSurface! And be sure to check out FrogTape® on twitter @FrogTape for more inspiration!
