We still have temperatures in the negatives, but I decided that it was time to switch out my Burlap Winter Banner for something a little different! Even though Valentine's Day is right around the corner, this cute and shabby Be Mine Valentine's Day Banner is so quick to DIY, there is still plenty of time to create and enjoy it!
And I'm hoping with the fun spring pink I used, I can entice spring to stop by Indiana for a while and visit.
To create this Valentine's Banner you will need:
- canvas or duck cloth (approx ⅓ yard)
- bright pink burlap (approx ⅓ yard)
- dark gray felt (approx ¼ yard)
- clothespins
- jute
- hot glue gun
- Sizzix
- Heart die
- AllStar Alphabet Dir, lowercase, or similar
- Rectangle die 2.5" x 5" finished or similar
- Square die 5" x 5" finished or similar
- Rotary Cutter or fabric scissors
You will begin by simply cutting your fabrics out with your Sizzix. Have I mentioned how much I love my Sizzix! It is truly one of my favorite crafting machines EVER! Being able to cut fabric shapes has REVOLUTIONIZED my crafting. Seriously. It's that amazing.
If you do not have a Sizzix (run out and grab one!) or, you can cut all of these shapes by hand using a rotary cutter or scissors.
Cut the duck cloth into 5" x 5" squares.
Cut the pink burlap into 2.5" x 5" rectangles.
Use a dark grey felt to cut out the letters and one heart shape.
Use hot glue fabric layers together. And hang each letter stack on a piece of jute using clothespins!
This project didn't take longer then 15 minutes to create and it only cost about $5! It makes a perfect shabby Valentine's Day Banner and I just love how it looks on my DIY Distressed Pallet Board!
Do you decorate for Valentine's Day?
Amy
This banner is so cute! I love the colors, and I LOVE the pallet board that you've hung it on. I may have to make one of those for myself! 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing at Sweet Inspiration!
