We just finished painting a room (dining-room-turned-library). We also assembled 7 bookcases of various heights and widths and 3 height extenders. Now, it's time for the books and decor. We measured several times, then I studied the IKEA bookcases online. I figured out what all we needed. When my daughter came down to visit with some of her crew, they had rented a long van so everyone could be comfortable. She volunteered to take us to IKEA which is about a 3-hour drive from our home. They go all the time just to look. We spent quite a bit of time there looking at everything. It's amazing. When we got to the bookcases I wanted, one of the employees helped me order everything. She printed out the list so I knew what to get when we got downstairs. We had tons of fun at IKEA and not so much when we had to put everything together. It was boring, and we wanted them up already! Now, it's done, and I have scads of books to organize and see if they will all fit. Wish me luck! Oh...only one organizing project at a time. The rest of the house is pretty much in order. I can't say the same for the garage. I will be having another garage sale in the spring. I have to wait until it's warm enough to tend to that. So, I have a month or two or three. Best wishes to you in the new year!

I forgot to say...The bookcases, once they were lined up, just fit. I could have removed quarter rounds and base boards if I had to. We did remove the base board all along the back, because we wanted the bookcases flush to the wall in the back. I might see about filling in the space at either end. It would look more finished. We'll see.
