Aren't you loving this week's topic: Spring Cleaning!? I will be honest, my house is not always clean, but I really do love a clean and tidy home! I find that having the right products can make the job a lot easier! And, like many of you, I am no stranger to making my own cleaning products! In fact one of my all-time most popular posts is a DIY Cleaning Product recipe. So today, in light of Spring Clean Week here are Simply Designing, I decided to show off {3} Fabulous DIY Cleaning Solutions!
Homemade Dishwasher Detergent {aka Dish Soap}
This was born out of a problem I had, horrible hard water stains on my dishes. My dishes and glasses never looked clean and the hard water stains I started to get upon a cross-country move just irritated me! So I did a lot of research and testing too and came up with a great DIY Homemade Dishwasher Detergent that is perfect for those with hard water stains! Click HERE to get the recipe.
Re-Usable Swifter Dusters
Oh man oh man, using a duster can save so much time with trying to clean! I love my duster but I started to run into two problems. 1) With my more "shabby," "distressed," and "rustic" look I've been adding to my home, the disposable duster refills snagged, caught and left little pieces of themselves everywhere. This did not help with my cleaning. 2) Purchasing refills was getting expensive and a little part of me hates to spend money on things we throw-away!
So I decided it was time to come up with my own solution and I made these really simple re-usable duster covers! I actually think they pick up better then the disposable ones, they don't leave any fuzzies behind when dusting "rustic" items and they are machine washable! What's not to love!? Click HERE for the full tutorial.
Homemade Laundry Detergent {aka Wash Soap}
After trying my hand at making my own dishwasher detergent, I had nearly all the ingredients I needed to make my own laundry detergent! So I gave it a whirl and was pleased with the results! My clothes are clean and smell fresh and my wallet has seen a bit of relief! It is definitely an economical solution for those looking to lighten our expenses. In addition, it is free of all chemicals and dyes and is a great option for babies, kids and people with skin sensitivities. Click HERE for the recipe.
