I am so excited to be sharing my latest project with you with the help of HGTV's new Home Fabric Line! Yup, you heard that right! HGTV now has an exclusive line of indoor and outdoor home decor fabrics available only at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores! I was so excited when I was asked to review their fabrics and trim and create a project with it! I was simply thrilled at the opportunity!
Jo-Ann sent me (2) 1 yard pieces of coordinating fabrics as well as a beautiful piece of trim to create something amazing with!
When I saw their fabrics I simply fell in love! Their fabric beautiful, full of style, created with amazing colors and it is also really nice quality fabric!
At first I wasn't sure what to create, but after looking at the beautiful fabric for a few days, it hit me. This fabric would make AMAZING PLACEMATS!!
I researched the "typical" dimension of placemats and realized that I could get 4 double-sided placemats out of 1 yard of fabric! Wahoo! So I started by cutting each yard of fabric into 8 rectangles.
Then I placed two rectangles, right-sides together, and sewed most of the way around the rectangle. I left a few inches un-sewn so that I could turn my placemats right-side-out.
After I sewed the placemats and turned them right-side-out, I ironed the fabric carefully, being sure that all the edges and corners were pushed out as much as possible. (I am sure there is a technical term for this...but I am not a professional sewer!)
I finished off my placemats by doing a stitch about ¼" from the edge of the placemat, all the way around. This results in a nice, crisp edge that is perfect for these fun new placemats!
I really do love how these turned out!
I just think they are so pretty!
These would make an AMAZING wedding present or new neighbor gift too!
I really love the fun and bright colors of these HGTV Home Decor Fabrics! And this trim is AM.MAZ.ING!! Holy cow it is so pretty!
I can't wait to visit Jo-Ann's to see more of HGTV's exclusive fabric line!
